James founded Pure Prairie, formerly known and branded as Folsom Point Nutrition, while living in Boulder, Colorado. During his 15-year stint in Boulder, James was heavily influenced by the cultures of athleticism, mindfulness, healthy eating & living, entrepreneurship, and--of course--bison, that characterize Boulder. His pursuits in competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, regenerative manual farming in New Zealand, formal philosophical studies at CU-Boulder, and work at various agricultural, ecological, and food-production related start-ups in Boulder all contributed to his offering the first 100% grass-fed bison based supplements that nurture the consumer, the bison themselves, and the Earth that houses and produces them all. James first launched Paleo-Plex, the first and only bison organ supplement offering a Whole Animal Natural Ratio. Customer interest and demand spurred James on to continue launching new products, such as the 70/30 Bison Liver & Heart Supplement, and eventually even food-grade bison tallow that can also be used for skin care.
James met Malgorzata in Boulder, and the two of them discovered their mutual shared vision for a healthy and holistic family life led on wild land. And, of course, with bison in the picture! Naturally, they adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog from the Boulder area and began their family journey together, purchasing a property in south-central Colorado with the intention to produce healthy food, happy animals, and healthy&happy humans from the land, while restoring and regenerating productivity in a naturally-integrative way.
Today, Malgorzata, James, their unborn son Douglas (due April 2025), and puppy "Blue" all live together and operate Pure Prairie from the San Luis Valley in Colorado, living a life as close to the land, natural rhythms, and their own food production as possible.
They hope to add many products, both bison-based and otherwise, to the product catalog soon to simultaneously nurture both human and soil health, and offer healthful alternatives to mainstream options.
Healthy land, animals, and people are all connected and come hand-in-hand!
