100% GRASS-FED & FINISHED - The bison going into our tallow are certified to be 100% Grass-Fed & Finished. The ranches we source from go above and beyond, utilizing regenerative ranching techniques like rotational grazing to ensure grass-fed bison now and well into the future for further generations.
- SKIN SUPERFOOD - Our grass-fed tallow is a superfood—not just for eating, but for your skin too! Tallow is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores. It also contains myriad vitamins and fatty acids like myristic, stearic, palmitic, linoleic, and oleic acids which all confer a plethora of benefits for the skin such as moisturizing, reducing inflammation, softening, protecting, and more. Tallow has been used ancestrally for all-purpose skin care longer than any chemical-based product you’ll find at the department store. Hominids have likely been using tallow on their skin for hundreds of thousands of years!
- SINGLE INGREDIENT - We don’t use anything in our tallow - no hidden additives, adulterants, stabilizers, or anything else—just pure, 100% Grass-Fed Bison from the USA. Friendly to Paleo, Keto, Carnivore, Whole30, and so many other diets.
- LOW-TEMPERATURE RENDERED IN THE USA - Our tallow is rendered at the lowest temperatures possible. This retains integrity of fatty acids (keeping them stable and intact), and avoids oxidization and damaging of these precious lipids. Low-temperature cooking also prevents denaturing of proteins or other degradation of nutritional content. So, consider this tallow minimally processed!
- EXCEPTIONALLY RARE - Bison are extraordinarily lean animals. Bison that have only been fed grass their entire lives are even leaner. We generally harvest about 5lbs of fat from each animal—keep in mind bison can weigh over 2,000lbs! This makes 100% Grass-Fed Bison fat and tallow slightly more abundant than unicorn steak. It’s a very limited-production product and we encourage you to enjoy it while it’s available
100% Grass-Fed & Finished Bison Tallow is ideal for skin care, cooking or frying, preserving other foods (like pemmican and confit) and more! This high-smoke point oil is sourced from our 100% Grass-Fed & Finished Bison that are ranched on small, family-owned, American ranches. We then render the fat from these incredibly lean bison at low temperatures—the low temperatures prevent denaturing of proteins, oxidizing fatty acids, or otherwise destroying the nutrients in this tallow.

We use a 50/50 blend of kidney suet to backfat to cook our bison tallow. These two fats are prized for different reasons, and we’ve found a 50/50 blend of the two to be an ideal blend for cooking and kitchen purposes as well as skin care. Too much kidney suet creates a product that is too firm or hard for skin care use without blending with other oils. Too much backfat creates a soft, greasy product. The two fats have different fatty acid compositions, and we believe the ideal blend is a balance of the two.
Our bison are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, and are never fed grain. They have access to open grass-covered pasture their entire lives, and are able to fully express their bison-ness everyday. They are never confined. The bison are raised with the highest standards of animal husbandry, both living and dying with dignity. The bison are raised on a single, small family ranch that prioritizes the quality of life of the bison. We encourage field-harvesting, a stress-free harvesting method, with all of our ranching partners. Some of the bison fat used for our tallow comes from field-harvesting.
We cook our tallow at the minimum temperature to ensure safety, while also avoiding excessive heat that can contribute to oxidation and destruction of fatty acids. Cooking fats of any kind at excessive temperatures and/or pressures can degrade the fats themselves as well as the nutrients and vitamins contained. We process our tallow as gently as possible.
Our tallow does not contain any milk or dairy and does not come into contact with any milk, dairy, grains, or gluten. Our tallow is free of all of these substances.
Many customers report an increase in sex hormones after taking the product for a few weeks. This of course can correlate to a higher sex drive or higher ambition, drive, and focus in general. Cholesterol and saturated fats in tallow can support hormone production and healthy sex drive in both men and women.
Bison tallow does have a mild scent and aroma that diminishes when cooked or heated. It doesn’t contribute much flavor to cooked dishes, and does not give any unpleasant after taste or burps. Some customers blend the tallow with herbs and/or herb-infused oil, essential oils, etc. to add their own scent for skin care use.
